Company Bio
Majestic Landscaping and Palms has been a dream of mine since I
was a young boy. I grew up helping my dad on the farm, in nearby
Jefferson, SC. I was driving tractors when I was barely big enough
to climb up on them. We planted corn, watermelon, beans,
tomatoes, cantaloupe, anything we could grow. We worked the
fields everyday, plowing and fertilizing and picking the crops. Once
the crops were picked we would load up the truck and go out into
the community and sell. At the time, I had no idea how much I
was learning. I just knew that I was doing something to help my
dad provide for the family.
At the age of 14 my dad opened a produce market in Lancaster,
SC. I worked with him after school and during Spring and Summer
breaks. I learned every aspect of running a business. From buying
product, merchandising and selling. I also developed a good sense
of how important every customer is to any business. I would run
the produce market by myself while my dad was gone buying and
running errands. And it wasn't long before I was able to run it by
myself on the weekends.
As I got older, I got busy with another passion of mine, Baseball. I
spent all my time following this dream. I practiced and played as
often as I could. I didn't spend as much time at the produce stand
and found myself working other jobs. Indoor jobs. Eventually, I
realized that I needed to do something with my love for the
outdoors. I have always enjoyed keeping a nice yard and helping
neighbors with theirs. People close to me kept telling me that I
should do something with this natural talent that I had. A talent
that I believe was nurtured as a young boy, in those fields in
Jefferson, SC.
After saving some money, I took the advice of my friends and
family. I put my knowledge of horticulture and customer service
together and started a small Landscaping business. After visiting
California and seeing all the palm trees, I knew this was something
that I wanted to incorporate into my business. I worked day and
night learning as much as I could about these trees and whether or
not they would grow in this area. I read as many books as I could
and talked to palm growers from all over the country. I found
several that would grow in this area and decided to experiment
with them in my own yard. I was happy to see that not only would
they grow here but the interest in them was growing too. People
from all over the county saw that palms could live here and how
pretty they were.
Now after 10 years of business, Majestic Landscaping and Palms is
responsible for over 75% of the palms growing here. We have
extended our sales of cold hardy palms to other states as far north
as Maryland and as far west as Kansas. And I have recently followed
in my dads footsteps and opened a produce market. Dad still has
his produce market, located in Myrtle Beach, SC.
After all these years I still think the most important thing I learned
was customer service. Our motto has always been and will continue
to be " Customer First".
