Q.  Where is the heart of a palm tree?
A.
  The top of the trunk of the tree.                                          

Q.   Should i fertilize my palm tree in the winter?                             
A.    No.

Q.   What is root rot?
A.
   When water doesn't drain and roots rot.   
                                                            
Q.   How much do i need to water my palm when planted?
A.    At least 3 times a week.             

Q.   Do i need to mulch my palm tree?
A     In colder climates it's recommended.
           
Q.   My sago is brown in spring what can i do?
A.    Cut off brown leaves and wait for new growth.                                                      

Q.   Can my palm survive colder temperatures than what it's rated?
A.    A healthy tree should be able to take lower temperatures for short periods.

Q.   If my palm tree spear is brown does that mean the tree is dead?
A.    No.

Q.  Do i have to add sand in the hole when planting my palm tree in red clay?
A.   No. It is possible when adding sand you can container the tree in the ground.

Q.  Do i need to prune fronds off the tree right after they turn brown.
A.   No. The heart of the tree is still using nutrients from the dead fronds.

Q.  When do i cut fronds or what is a good rule to follow?
A.   Hold both arms straight out from your body like you are the trees fronds.
     Anything hanging below that towards the ground can be cut.

Q.  What are the green berries hanging from my palmetto tree?
A.   That is seed / fruit. They can be planted for more trees.

Q   Can i eat the fruit off my Pindo palm?
A.   Yes. They are called dates. You can make wine or jelly out of them also.

Q.  How tall will my Windmill palm get?
A.  They can grow to 35Ft tall.

Q.  Do all palm trees need a lot of water?
A.   No. The Pindo and the Washingtonia palms dislike a lot of water.

Q.  How tall will my Sabal Palmetto get?
A.   They can grow  45Ft - 50Ft tall.

Q.  Are there any palms that will stay small in height?
A.   Yes. Around here we have the Sabal minor, Saw Palmetto and the Needle palm.

Q.  Is the sago a palm tree?
A.   The sago is a Cycad, one of the oldest fossils known to man.

Q.  Do i need to support my larger palm trees after installation?
A.   Yes. I would say 1 year in clay soils and 2 years in sandy soils.

Q.  Is raised beds good for palms trees?
A.  Yes. A raised bed is great for palm trees to get proper drain.
